I've begun work on the final book in the series. The background plot of a conspiracy to take over the South will conclude with ... . Well, as they say, that story is still to be written.

I confess that the political turmoil in America today prompted some of this plot. But, there is no agenda on my part, other than a good story!

At my last book signing, I was asked by a very nice lady (who I assumed was Russian) whether I thought that states leaving the United States was actually possible. I'm a lawyer and a history buff, but no expert in political science. Nevertheless, she seemed worried about it. When I said I sincerely doubted such a thing could happen, she responded that it did when the Soviet Union fell apart in the early 1990s.

I wasn't aware of that at all, but maybe I'll look into it!
