I've been gone a while after my first blog post. Too many things going on, the most serious of which is a medical issue that has me reading everything I can possibly get my hands on to understand and treat it.
I've had multiple appointments and finally a procedure last week. I'm feeling better, but time will tell if the improvement is wishful thinking (a figment of my hopeful imagination) or something real.
But like all bad things one goes through, it has taught me a lesson that I hope stays with me for the rest of my life. 'Do not discount today'.
That's all we have. The past few minutes that I have spent writing this post are gone, and the only memory of that time is these words. Live this moment. As best as you can. As happily as you can. With as much wonder for the world as you can muster.
Maybe that is why I write. To maintain the present although it will become the past in an instant. Maybe that's why we create. To retain the past and make it our present every time we look at that creation.
Maybe everything we do is in some way representative of that quest for immortality.
But let's not forget the Importance of Now while we are searching for Forever.
