The Strange Case of D.B. Cooper
D.B. Cooper is one of the most ballsy figures in the annuls of modern crime. On November 24, 1971, he skyjacked a Boeing 727, collected a 200 grand ransom from the airline, and then he parachuted from the flying airliner. The twenty-one pounds of $20 banknotes were belted to his chest.
Like I said, he'd real cojones. His case is the only unsolved hijacking ever pulled off in the U.S. The "unsolved" part is why he fires our imaginations. Everyone has a different opinion of his fate. Mine is D.B. ended up as a pile of bear scat. But who actually knows except for D.B.? Perhaps the truth will come out as with Deep Throat.
Countless books and a few movies have been made about D.B. Too bad he doesn't have an entertainment lawyer to collect the royalties on the bucks made off his personal saga. Every now and then, a new lead or clue surfaces, and the D.B. Cooper furor begins cranking up all over again.
Thus it's also proven again: life is indeed stranger than fiction.
