All of us in the United States are faced with a crisis of identity.
Are we still the land of the free and the home of the brave, or are we the land of the cowed and the scared.
The whole point of democracy (and the First Amendment to our Constitution) was to encourage people to TALK about political issues. The founders knew that it was only through talking that a compromise could be reached.
Many people today argue that discussion and dissent are bad or disruptive, or un-American. What are they afraid of?
Be brave, listen to others and talk about real issues, honestly and from the heart.
Be free, speak from the heart, any idiot can criticize, condemn and complain.
Be patient. Some people are not brave enough to hear the views of others, or to speak from the heart. There is no point in arguing with them, they are not listening anyway.

If we cannot discuss all of the important political issues peacefully, we are all doomed.
