Llanbadern Vawr – Grand Padarn Church

Saint Padarn’s Church in Wales is pictured in this engraving. (Llanbadern Fawr means “Grand Padarn Church”) In the background flows the River Rheidol, which empties into the sea near Aberystwyth. The church is old; it was founded by Celts as far back as the 6 th century. No one knows precisely how long it has borne the name of Saint Paternus (Saint Padarn).

An unknown artist produced this engraving around 1800. Today the church still looks almost exac...
