Getting Started
Hello everyone.
Well, I thought it was about time I started some kind of - any kind of - blog. There's a first time for everything, and this is it for me.
Funnily enough, as a journalist, I never really adopted social media as I should have when it came out. Self-limiting, I know. Possibly even daft. But there you have it.
I found myself just on that beginning trajectory of social media use when I was a news editor, reading people's blogs and tweets (this in the field of politics) for their news-making potential. But I wasn't tweeting myself or posting.
It was a trend I continued when I left my BBC berth and started writing....no Facebook and only one-way Twitter use. I thinks the kids were secretly glad I didn't have an FB presence. Many of my friends thrive on it but I don't think they were too stuck on the idea of me having a profile - and reading too much of their stuff. Besides, I think I was put off by the fact (untrue) that I continually had to upload new posts and photographs. Sounded like another way to waste more time and I could do without that.
Either way, these days it's one-way Twitter for me (I hope that doesn't make me a 'Twalker'?) and now this blog, which one person, one day might read.
So hello. For the first time. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. But at the minute I think I might have to continually upload new posts....
