Beauty

Confession: I have a slight obsession with all things beauty-related. Skincare, makeup, hair products---even Youtube how-to makeup videos. You name it, I love it. It's fun to try new things and learn what tips and tricks work best. Yeah, you could say I'm a girly-girl that way. But I've been thinking about beauty lately; about what defines it. And I've concluded that it comes down to one word---light.

No matter how much makeup or how many cute clothes a girl owns, she can't replicate light if it's not there. Conversely, if the light IS there, it's more beautiful than anything that can be bought in a store. It can't be hidden.

Matthew 6:22 says, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light."

Most of us concentrate on improving beauty from the outside, but it needs to be the opposite. If we want to be truly beautiful, we need to start from the inside. What are we feeding our souls? How are we spending our time? How often do we think of others instead of focusing on ourselves? These are the things that bring a light to the eye and a glowing countenance.

So give yourself a mini-makeover today. Smile more. Help someone out. Make choices that will keep the light in your soul instead of extinguishing it. See if you don't feel better about the reflection in the mirror, because that's a daughter of God staring back at you. And she is beautiful.
