Interview with Peri June

BE: Today, I chat with a young author, Peri June. Of course to me everyone is a young author. Hello, Peri, good of you to be here.

PJ: Hi Bill. Thank you for having me!

BE: So, tell me, of all the possible career choices, why be an author?

PJ: I tried a couple of different things, but I was always so miserable, so I thought why not start doing something I actually like. And here we are.

BE: There's a novel concept. (groan) Now that you've gotten your feet wet, what do think about your decision?

PJ: Honestly I think that was the best decision I’ve made so far. I love writing; the jury is still out on whether it loves me back. Lol. I have a long road ahead of me, but I’m excited.

BE: Have you done anything special to prepare yourself for this journey?

PJ: Nope. I knew if I had given myself too much time to think about it I would have chickened out.

BE: Kinda like the high dive. Don't think about it, just jump. I see where "My Life as I Knew It" is a thriller. Is there any particular reason you chose that genre?

PJ: None whatsoever. I didn’t even classify it as a thriller.

BE: Just a minute, let me pull my head out of my .. I mean foot out of my mouth. Really?

PJ: I only wanted to explore what a person would do if they faced something like my main character had. Would she be able to get on with her life? Or would she allow it to ruin hers as well?

BE: As an author myself, I know that sometimes you want to get away for a little while. What do you do to relax? Are you into paintball or anything like that?

PJ: Paintball freaks me out. Lol. It’s going to sound so lame, but when I want to unwind and I’m not in the mood for reading, I like to play with my niece and nephew. There’s something so relaxing about only having to choose between Darth Vader and Elsa for the next epic battle between action figures. Lol.

Dum da da dum, dum da dum, dum da dum! (Ominous Darth Vader motif)

BE: What's your favorite adult beverage? I'm planning a party and I was thinking about inviting you. Just kidding. I'm not planning a party, but if I was, I'd invite you. What's next on the horizon for Peri June?

PJ: I’ll tell you a little something weird about me: I cannot stomach either caffeine or alcohol; they burn a hole right through my stomach!

BE: No coffee? Say it isn't so!

PJ: So I would probably be the most boring party guest ever.

BE: I doubt that, but I stepped all over your question. What's next?

PJ: I just started writing a new book. Have no idea where it’s going.

BE: That's why I write the ending first. Now it's your turn. Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

PJ: Just enjoy reading many, many books!

BE: I'm sure they will. Thank you, Peri, for spending tome with us.

PJ: Thank you, Bill. This was so much fun.

BE: Okay, readers, its your turn. Spend some time with Peri and her new book,

My Life As I Knew It.

Blurb: Even the people closest to you can be monsters.

Maggie Martin is plagued by nightmares.
This hasn't always been the case. She used to be your typical 17-year-old, worrying about boyfriends and college applications.
Until, one night, when she wakes up to the sound of screaming and witnesses the unthinkable. Now she's scrambling to put the pieces of her life back together, which is not as easy as everyone would like her to believe.
Especially when she's struggling just to BREATHE.

With the help of new friends, and a new love, will she be able to put her life back to rights? Or will the past come knocking once more?
