Kirkus Reviews: "A poignant sketch"

The first review of THE REVOLUTION OF ROBERT KENNEDY came in this week from Kirkus Reviews.

In part:
To young people, especially, he began speaking passionately of a "revolution now in progress," peaceful if possible, but demanding advances in individual dignity and in economic and political freedom. Bohrer presents this thorough and well-researched narrative in an evenhanded style, leaving evaluation of this still-controversial politician to readers.

Joseph J. I look forward to reading this book. The Kennedys-and the Roosevelts-remind us of a time when public service and concern for country drove persons to run for office, and not a quest for enrichment. Bobby K was a multi-layered person, and his capacity for growth is measured by his growing concern for the poor an marginalized in the period this book covers. My book shelf contains the classic Schlesinger and Thomas biographies, and the focused works by Jeff Shesol (RFK and LBJ) and Hilty (RFK and JFK). Again, I anticipate this authors view of RFK.
