The Fate of Racing To You
I’ve been putting off writing this post for a long time. But I figure readers are entitled to know the story, even if it is a sad one.
My first book that came out last summer 2016, Racing To You, was on the market for a total of eight months, before my publisher went out of business.
To say I was sad would be putting it lightly. I had already finished writing the sequel when I found out. What happened with Samhain Publishing was like a mad experience of whiplash. I enjoyed working with my editor there, but alas the organization was on it’s last legs by the time I signed with them, unbeknownst to me and most writers.
I worked hard on the book, editing it with care, marketing it with all the gusto I had. Like all newbie writers I made mistakes and there are things I would probably do differently but what I wouldn’t change–releasing the book. I really wanted to share Racing To You with you. I love Aurelia in all her stubborn insecurity and her fierce need to be loved. And Terrence who for all his power and charisma can’t conceal his wounded side for long.
I’ve learned a lot. It’s strange to me that Terrence and Aurelia are no longer on the market, and that those who did read it have been left hanging. I never wanted it to be that way. I had planned to have their sequel out within four months of Racing To You’s release. (And if I’d gotten my way, it would’ve.) For that, I am sorry. If I’d known the sequel was not to be published, I never would’ve left you hanging with Terrence’s betrayal.
Racing To You’s Happy-For-Now ending left some excited for more while others were hair pullingly angry. If you’re one of either of those–contact me. Maybe we can work something out.
I've decided to leave the book up on Goodreads because I don't want to delete all the reviews people were so generous to write.
I’m not ready to get into self-publishing right now. It’s a daunting thing so I’ve decided not to self-publish Racing To You yet. I have three new books coming out this summer and I’m going to focus on those. But next year, who knows, hopefully I’ll learn something about self-publishing and get Terrence and Aurelia back into your hands. Complete WITH the sequel!
The Terror Braker won’t stand to be held back for long!
