Sometimes a story will write itself. That means, while I have no idea what's going to happen, the characters seem to know, and the story unfolds as I write it, and as they (the characters) are developed.

It's a story about how fatherhood is about intention and devotion, rather than merely a genetic entitlement. Fathers come in all forms, even sometimes unlikely characters like Jason in this book.

In order to stay true to Jason, the book is written in the vernacular of Nassau County, Long Island, where the story is set.

I hope you like it, because I sweated over it for hundreds and hundreds of hours, and even started boxing so I could get a sense of how it feels to fight. In the end though, just like in the book-- the greatest fight of a person's life will take place in their own heart.
