Book 4 published!
"Susan's Bridge" is now available on Amazon! This book is written as if it had to stand on its own. Yes, it's the fourth book in the series, but I did not want it to be totally necessary for a reader to have read the first three books for this one to make any sense.
Granted, the reader is dropped into the tale at not-exactly-the-beginning, but I've tried to weave in enough of Susan's backstory throughout the book that a brand new reader could still understand what's going on.
The story begins where, in Book 3, Susan left Martin and the others from Cheshire, to head down to Massachusetts to find a route for the food trucks to follow. From the end of Book 3, readers know she was successful, but nothing more. Book 4 tells Susan's story.
Yet, I've striven (gotta love those strong verbs) to provide enough backstory throughout, about the power outage, the state of siege, Susan's city-girl background, etc.
Her jar of olives ends up playing a significant role, so I've tried to include enough of how she came by it and why it means something to her that even a reader of only Book 4 would understand.
Whether new readers will want to start with something called Book 4, or not, remains to be seen. Still, I wanted to make it possible.
Susan's Bridge is available both as Kindle and paperback.
