As you will find out, there are seven kingdoms in the land of Alagana: Ïsteldûr, Huebeck, Aniöm, Aideil, Farindor, Velesah, and Mendia.

There are many different languages throughout these kingdoms to accommodate the many races of peoples and creatures. For example, the Gold Elves that live isolated in the water cities of Velesah wouldn't speak the same language as the dwarves who live high in the Mendian mountains. The Aniöm dialect shows up in the second half of the book without any explanation as to what is said in order to (hopefully) spark conversation.
