July 10 is “Don’t Step on a Bee Day,” which sounds funny but addresses the real threat to our ecosystem by decline in both overall bee populations and species biodiversity. Like Maya in Rooting for Rafael Rosales, I am drawn to this environmental issue not just because it is important, but because it is one of the few environmental actions children can do something about.
