A Strange Affair Book Release Day
Well It's Release Day!
This morning I said a massive thank to all my friends and family for their support and for putting up with all my posts, questions and messages over the last few weeks. I can’t believe the book is finished and out there today. It’s been a long journey and when I’m in full on promo mode with a few days to go, it’s easy to get stressed and forget that I’m doing something I love.
For me writing a book and getting it out is sort of like having another baby as it reminded me of the last days of pregnancy. As much as you love and want this little thing that keeps growing, the last few days are hell, uncomfortable and stressful and you just want to get the thing out. It’s only when the baby is born and you’re holding the perfect bundle in your arms, that you can look back and fully appreciate the whole journey.
I started writing this book over a year ago when my husband and I were still living on a barge on the canal with our two young daughters and pet rabbit. I remember it was a Friday night, all the lads were on the boat next door, the kids were asleep and there was nothing on TV. So I sat down with a glass of wine and started looking through a magazine called prestige. That’s when I came across a black and white photo of Chris Hemsworth looking dapper in a sleek dark suit; his hair was no longer Thor length either. It was on the shorter side now and he had facial hair which made him look a little older, brooding and intimidating. He oozed sex appeal in that photo, which is why it became my inspiration. I opened up the laptop and started to write and over the course of that evening and into the early hours of that morning, A Strange Affair was born.
This is my third book and I’m very proud of it. I’ve been working so hard to promote it that if it wasn’t for a special group of ladies reminding me to pause and recognize my achievement, I would have forgotten to celebrate today. So I will raise several glasses this evening to all that hard work paying off. So to those of you who will be reading it, I hope it brings a smile to your face and a blush to your cheeks.
