#IssaCause

I bet you are looking at this blog wondering..... "What the hell is Latiesha up to?!". If that is the case, allow me to enlighten you. I have received a plethora of Inbox messages, DM's and emails from people close to me in life; in reference to starting businesses and writing books. Typically, I take the time to answer each of these messages and provide my input from my experience in business starting and writing, but then, it dawned on me. Each of the individuals have stated that they have "admired my work from afar", "have seen my recent posts via social media" and then proceed to ask me to help them get started on the same path.
Now me being the person that  I am; I jump at the opportunity to help. I respond with web links, phone numbers, Materials and all types of information to help others jump start their path to their own financial freedom.
All of a sudden, a light bulb went off in my brain as i realized, I have offered consultations for FREE to people who do not support me. I looked back at all of my postings to see if any of those people asking me for help have actually ever liked a post. 9 times out of 10 they did not. I checked my sales spreadsheet to see if they have ever made a purchase; in which, none of them have. I realized I was providing a service to people who admired my work, yet would never pay for any of it and  wondered why?
Have you ever wondered why is it so hard for a long time family member or friend to simply LIKE a Facebook post, SHARE a Facebook post, or RETWEET a tweet. Have you spent many nights wondering why none of your family or friends take the time to come to any of your events or buy any of your products?
Some people become extremely upset with the lack of support received from those closest to them and I understand that feeling too well. I have had friends message me saying "I'm sorry I haven't purchased any of your books yet. I've been struggling financially" and then turn around and post a photo of themselves on a shopping spree. I have had family members promoting others via social media, promoting the work of celebrities (people who care nothing about them or have done nothing for them), all while refusing to even LIKE any of my postings. Trust me, I identify with the frustration and the hurt that some of you may feel when you are trying to dig your way out of poverty and toil. It's tough.
Allow me to explain something to you all. In spite of your feelings, it is not anyones job to support you. Not your family and not your friends. No one HAS to buy your stuff simply because you decide to go into business. No one has to purchase your books, your clothes, your food, your anything! Get out of the habit of thinking that people owe you something. The world (& the people in your personal little world) frankly, do not owe you sh*t.
Sometimes people honestly do not realize how important their support is to you. People don't realize how important something as simple as a like or a retweet is to you. Or even a share or a purchase. Sometimes people just....don't.... know.
And sometimes, they do know. They just don't care. and honestly, they hope that you don't do well. This is not because they don't love you or like you (even though sometimes it is). But they just can not accept the fact that you actually did something. Sometimes, it can actually hurt the people that love you when you are doing better than they are. It can be a tough pill to swallow. All it takes on your end is a simple question.... "Hey, family member. Or friend. Why don't you support me?". Let them know how much their support means to you. It may be uncomfortable or awkward but it is much better than harboring feelings and resenting them for their lack of support. Followed by a major attitude adjustment on your part. Realize that you not only CAN NOT make people support you, but you SHOULD NOT force them or guilt them into doing it as well.
Consider it a blessing when someone supports your business, your art, or your movement. Ever heard the saying "pay attention to those who don't clap when you win?". That saying is (excuse my french) bullshit. Pay attention to those who DO clap when you win - and then thank them for doing so!

Now, I bet you're wondering. Well what does this have to do with hobophobia and by the way - what the hell is hobophobia?! Well, let me enlighten you some more. A hobo is a homeless person or a migrant worker. As per phobia.... Well, phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something. Therefore, Hobophobia is the fear of bums or beggars. Have you ever thought to yourself that when you "market" to your family and friends; they may have a fear of you basically BEGGING for their support - therefore, they ignore you all together?
CRAZY? RIGHT?!
I thought so as well! So, to inspire, enlighten and to help those who are starting their journeys in entrepreneurship and other ventures - I thought I would take it upon myself to do what I do best..... Start a cause! LOL ( By the way... this is NOT what I do best). haha
I named this cause #IssaCause because..... Issa cause! * Am i the only person laughing really hard at this? probably. haha* *akwarrrrd*
Take the initiative to ask for the support you want from your family and your friends. More importantly, make a conscious decision to give them the same version of yourself whether they do or they don't. Remember, gaze upward, look inward, reach outward and press forward! Always look for opportunities to grow - because that's the greatest "Cause" of them all!
