Book Review: "Reiki and Christian Healing" by Alice Mindrum
I can’t recall how I came across this title, but I'm happy to have this book on my shelf. Rev. Alice Mindrum writes a sincere and compelling account of sacred Christian Reiki energy, its history, uses, and her personal experiences. This is a clean easy read, especially if you are learning about Reiki. I agree with another reviewer here who says ‘There are many false allegations surrounding Reiki.’ I suppose those who use fear, calling it evil and dangerous, and denying Christ’s powers to heal, those are the ones who are speaking from the darkness and not speaking from God’s light. Rev. Mindrum is clearly within the blessed light. I don’t know the Reverend or her ministry but her book demonstrates good intention, love of humanity, and a deep connection to Christ. If I were to name one dominant theme that struck me in this book, it’s the power of prayer and the connection to Christ. And so beautifully said. She emphasizes over and over again that this healing energy is from the Holy Spirit. “God’s energy does the healing.” “God’s energy is already present in all of us.” She lists over 45 gospel stories of healing by Christ and the apostles as the path for prayerful healing. While I had read some of these gospels over the years, she presented them with deeper clarity. On page 51, she says ‘Reiki is like prayer’ but from everything I’ve gotten from reading Rev.
