Came across a reference to Dr Power in Pepys' diaries today. Pepys was hurrying home to read a book by Dr Power, written in 1663. Power's single work was 'Experimental Philosophy, in Three Books: New Experiments. Microscopical, Mercurial, Magnetical'. The first ever book on microscopy. Pre-dating Hooke's more famous text.
