A dear friend of mine was going through chemotherapy. She and her husband are both close friends. I received a phone call one Friday from her husband, bringing me up to date on what had been going on with the treatments and with his wife’s general health and well-being.

Toward the end of the conversation we were talking about much lighter topics and I casually asked what they had planned for the upcoming weekend. His answer surprised me, but only momentarily.

“This weekend will be pretty laid back,” he replied. “We just had chemo yesterday.”

We” just had chemo. How appropriate! He and his wife, the love of his life and his partner in ministry were one in God’s eyes. He was sharing her experience vicariously.

His words reminded me that God shares our experiences and never leaves us. Knowing you’re not alone in your joys or your trials…the Next Right Choice!
