“Symphony Amore” Author Interview: Rebecca Chase
Today, I am proud to introduce Rebecca Chase. Her story in Symphony Amore: Erotic Stories of Love and Music is titled Beautiful Destruction, a totally different and excellent addition to the collection. She is an English rose with a taste for sex and romance. Rebecca loves finding interesting story ideas in everyday life. Love, or the possibility of it, is at the heart of all her stories.
Is this your first published story? Is this your first published story in a Sexy Little Pages anthology? I’ve had stories published before, including one in an anthology (Only Girl on the Pitch was in Love of the Game by Harley Easton). I’ve also had a sci-fi erotic short story published as a stand-alone by Sexy Little Pages. That story was called Before the Slaughter .
How long have you been writing erotica? How and why did you start? I’ve been writing erotica for about three years. I started because I had a crush on someone and I wanted to write our story, or rather the story I wanted us to have. I read a lot of erotica and it seemed a great form of escapism. From there, it turned into writing some of my fantasies. Before I knew it, I was no longer writing about me but creating something new, about people I might pass in the street or developing ideas that came to be randomly. I was giving a voice and excitement to those that didn’t exist and loved the adventure of making that happen.
What inspired you to write this story? Beautiful Destruction started with the idea that music isn’t necessarily an orchestra or a music teacher but something that happens in a club. I love going out dancing and letting the music move me. A DJ is a musician whose skill is often overlooked yet they can create something life-altering with their ability. Music can heal and change. One night at a club can alter the rest of your life and I wanted to write a story about one such life-changing night.
What were the most challenging and enjoyable aspects of writing it? The most challenging aspect was describing the music, the depths of the notes and the way it moves behind the action. The most enjoyable aspect was listening to songs that I adore dancing too and using them to aid my imagination and letting them lead the sexy scenes with their rhythm.
Does your story fit into your body of work? Yes and no. It has many of the ingredients of my body of work: characters with deep issues that impact their lives and relationships, the opportunity for love and for happy futures, good friends, humour, and sexy protagonists. However, this is my first lesbian story.
What is your favorite line from your story? “Just when she felt her limbs flag and her breath leave her, ‘Beautiful Destruction’ hit the speakers and once more she was a rising phoenix.”
Being as this is a collection about music, what is your favorite song or piece of music? My favourite song changes regularly but the song that’s been my favourite to dance to for some time is “Nobody to Love” by Sigma. It always makes me want to move.
What can we expect from you in the near future? I have some short stories in a mixture of anthologies coming out this year; all touch on different parts of sex and romance. I’m continuing to work on my two erotic romance novels that are based around different players in a rugby team. It is set in England and the first chapter takes place in a famous cathedral. There’s a lot more that I want to publish too, stories I haven’t yet found a place for. Watch this space.
