Cabin in the woods

If you've read my author bio, you already know that I am a housewife. Being an author and a housewife has it's obvious challenges. Finding quiet time to dedicate to writing is difficult. I could write so much more if I wasn't constantly being harassed by my 2 year old. How can you formulate a sentence while hearing "Mommy, MOMMY, Mooooooooomy" 10,751,375 times a day? Sounds impossible right? I've heard that established authors have taken "book-cations" to a remote cabin in the woods where they can get their creative juices flowing uninterrupted. Maybe Bambi will nibble on foliage in front of the cabin, or a hummingbird might hum it's nature song by a nearby window.

It sounds like a marvelous retreat that will produce an excellent manuscript. I don't have the luxury to hone my craft in this manner. Being a mother of a 2 year old, one year old, 2 special needs children, a 10 year old,two 11 year olds, a 12 year old, a 15 year old and a 17 year old is a daunting feat. Wow, that's a lot of kids you might say. Why, yes it is! I didn't birth them all. If you read my book It's Me. Her. The Housewife, you'll understand how I ended up with so many children.

Instead of a cabin in the woods, I have a king sized bed that doubles as my office. I take an hour or so after the children are asleep to write if I am not too tired. I also take my MacBook to the restroom! It's one of the only semi quiet places I can retreat to undisturbed if my 2 year old doesn't bang on the door screaming "MOMMY!" repeatedly.

I plan to meet this cabin in the woods idea somewhere down the middle and resort for a suite at a hotel once a month. A mommy's got to do what a mommy's got to do to accomplish her goals!
