Christian Cyberpunk Evangelism

Cyberpunk is the science fiction world of androids, clones, cyborgs, synthetic presences, nanites, virtual reality simulations, or any other such high tech thing that affects Man's reality.

I contend that cyberpunk is the perfect vehicle to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our world where the populace spends its time consuming the far-out products of pop culture.

Why?
1. Cyberpunk is the most relatable speculative fiction sub-genre. It is more relatable and realistic than space travel or any fantasy. Unlike Amish romances, It is something men may read.

2. It is easy to believe that a cyberpunk setting, in its high tech attempts to make a perfect world, will have severe problems resulting in dystopia. We know from our current situation (sexual identity, same-sex marriage, abortion, etc.) that Man typically messes things up.

I have spent a lifetime reading Christian Apologetics, and I believe that I have written a compelling case for the Gospel in my novel: The Lucid Series: Android Uprising. My goal is to win souls with it.
So I prayerfully request the help of Christians with:

1. Please pray for my work like you would any other missionary.

2. Please get my book and do a review on it. Reviews are what keeps the book in the front of the lists. My book is competing against many books in the "Christian Fiction" category that never even mention Jesus. My e-book is priced as low as is allowable on Kindle. But to show you my sincerity, I will gift you a copy if you will review it.

3. Consider giving paperback copies as gifts, especially to young adult readers.

4. Consider writing your own Christian cyberpunk novel. Please give me lots of "competition" for winning souls.

5. Join the Goodreads Christian Cyberpunk Books Club in Goodreads for information on more titles in this sub-genre.

Stan Hi Den!

I'll join that writer's group and check out your book. I'm not sure whether the Cyberpunk genre is better than the Steampunk genre for this purpose - I think we need to tackle both.

Ever since I played Cyberpunk RPGs I have thought about ways to write in that genre for the purpose of evangelism. So, you've definitely piqued my curiosity. Since I'm not an author, my ideas are, as of yet, merely notes about storyline possibilities. Perhaps one day they will become books.

I wish you well and I wish you success as an author and apologist undertaking this endeavor. The agendas coming out of Hollywood and the entertainment industry seem to predict that Islam will be the religion of the future (see Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick as examples). I believe the Shadowrun RPG also had Islam as the religion of the future. More recently, the series The Expanse (I have not read the related novels) present Mormonism as the religion of the future (so far it is the only religion presented in the show, and somewhat favorably too). These influences in pop culture definitely point people toward those religions. So, I believe high quality writing by Christians is also very important in these genre.

Blessings!

Den Warren Stan;
Sounds like you are extremely well read on these related topics. Thank you for your input. Maybe we can collaborate on a project sometime. If you would like to review the book, I can send you a free review copy to your email. Write me at bigontraining@yahoo.com

Stan Thanks for the offer Den. I just saw I can get the book through Amazon Unlimited for my Kindle. I'll try it that way as it should help your Amazon presence.

I took a class on Cross Cultural Communication years ago. In that class we learned to analyze films for their underlying agendas. I have not ever lost those skills. I don't read much fiction and I read slowly, but I'll try to get to your book shortly.

Den Warren Stan;
Thanks for your support. I have never thought of myself as a fast reader either, so I hope my writing style will be good for you. Funny thing is, I have spent most of my time reading non-fiction as well.

It sounds like you would be an excellent reviewer if not a writer.

Sarah Heya Den,

I'm excited to read and review. I really like cyberpunk (Snow Crash and The Peripheral are my faves) and definitely want to check out your book. I would love to see great gospel sci-fi the way we get some great gospel fantasy and historical romance. I'll PM you my address.

Cheers!

Den Warren Absolutely! Thank you.

Kim Steadman As one who enjoys this genre in the movie industry, I am interested in this as a book. Personally, my head for the past 10 years has been stuck in Non-Fiction books. I'm finally pulling it out of the corporate world and picking out book to read for fun while also writing for fun as well.

As an author, I love that your post reaches out for prayer for your work! I have an author coach that opened my eyes to the idea of having author prayer teams. It all makes sense to pray about our books and our creativity, a good gift from our heavenly Father We need prayer from many angles because it's HARD to write and publish our books!

Also, in closing, as Stan noted, is that I believe we need more Christian authors to write book and weave the gospel into the story lines. I look forward to learning more about your book!

Amen Sister! The world is all about entertainment. Let's not let the adversary have it all. I'll pray for you and any others who are trying to do a good work in such a way. I know that it is a challenge to put yourself out there when the world doesn't want to read it. I promise you that I would have zero success if it were not for Jesus and His people. Praise God for anything good that comes out of it. I pray that He will start a movement among indie authors.
I hope you will have fun with your book and let us all know about it when you are done. Please email me at any time if you think I could be of help. bigontraining@yahoo.com (Pssst . . . If you want to send me your email, I will send you a gift copy of my book to review.)

Craig Dressler Go for it!!! I like your statement about something men can read beside Amish fiction. Finding Christian fiction to read other than romances is not easy, particularly since Christian westerns are no longer available for the most part.

message 13: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Westlund Hi Den. I'd be interested in a free Kindle copy in exchange for review. I also have a book coming out in Feb that is a little Christian Cyberpunk-y. Maybe you could return the favor then, but if not, I'd still like to check out your book.

message 14: by Den (new)

Den Warren Daniel;
You can find my Lucid series for free at Smashwords.com. They also have Kindle version. (.mobi) I think. What is your book titled? Do you have a description?

message 15: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Westlund Just bought it on Amazon Kindle. Mine won't be out until February. It's called 'Stolen Shroud.' I posted the covers in a book cover poll in another thread here in the Christian Speculative Fiction discussion board.
