Managing Emotions by Eating Too Much

by Maria's Last Diet

Can you see how one or more of the following ways to regulate emotions* can lead to weight gaining eating?  Eating too much

repeatedly focusing your attention on your distress and your bad mood
pushing away thoughts and feelings that are troubling
avoiding people and situations that will affect you emotionally
being unaware, not understanding, and not accepting your emotional experiences
letting distressing emotions prevent you from keeping to your goal
letting distressing emotions make you act impulsively
being unwilling to experience distressing emotions as part of pursuing meaningful activities

Do you use any one of these emotion-regulating strategies?
