How I lost 50 pounds in 5 months
I’ve been miserable with my body and packing on the pounds for the last couple of years and no “diet” I tried was sustainable. None of the weight loss supplements I tried made a lick of difference. No exercise plan lasted longer than a few days.
I stepped on the scale in July of this year and instantly burst into tears. I was only 6 pounds shy of my full term pregnancy weight. I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancies, so this was quite the blow. I decided I had to make a change. I’d heard about the Keto way of eating, joined some FB groups and made the change on July 10, 2017.
I decided to keep it quiet outside of my immediate circle. One, I didn’t want people to see me fail if I failed. And two, if I didn’t fail, I wanted to surprise my family for Christmas.
Well, I haven’t failed. Between July 10th and December 8th (That’s less than 5 months, people!), I lost 50 pounds. No yo-yoing. No magic pills or powders or supplements of any kind. I only eat real food. No exercise routine. I’m rarely hungry and I never feel deprived. My knees stopped hurting all the time and I’ve got loads more energy.
My greatest tool was an amazing group I found on Facebook. It’s called: Low Carb Journey (Cooking Keto with Kristie). These people know what they’re talking about. They eat real food, count total carbs, and there is so much info in there that any question you could possibly have has most likely already been answered. The founder of the group, Kristie Sullivan is amazing. She has a Youtube channel and a cookbook filled with low-carb, copycat recipes that’s she’s spent weeks and months perfecting to taste as much like the real thing as possible.
I have coffee with heavy cream and coconut oil for breakfast, then lunch is usually something fatty and low carb. A cheeseburger with no bun dipped in mayo. Pizza casserole (check the cookbook). Cheesecake. Yes, I said cheesecake. Hot wings. My current obsession is jalapeño poppers. If I’m hungry… and I rarely am… for dinner, I’ll eat chicken or whatever meat I prepared for the rest of the family.
That’s it. No weird shakes. No chemically-produced “ketones” (I’m not even sure what that is). No starvation. Just keep every meal at 7 or less carbs and no more than 20 in a day. Make sure your fat intake is greater than your protein. Join the group. See the success stories. Have your questions answered.
