Generally speaking, we are all one step away from disaster. Sometimes it’s a major event such as an earthquake, flood, accident, what-have-you. Sometimes it’s an isolated incident that can be self-inflicted. Here is wishing you all exemption from any disasters looming in your path.
Lies are everywhere. They come at you through the phone, your computer, the newspaper, TV and radio. We listen to pitches that stretch the truth until it reaches the snapping point. If we aren’t careful, we will become a land of cynics unable to believe our leaders, our media, our advertisers and a good portion of our professionals. Do you believe me?
On a related subject - I believe congressmen should have to figure and fill out their own federal tax forms, and automobile designers be made to change their own oil and filters. Nothing like a pint of hot motor oil running down your arm to make your rethink the placement of that oil filter.

This thesis reminds me of the monologue that character Professor Levy delivered at the closing moments of 'Crimes and Misdemeanors' "We are all faced, throughout our lives, with difficult choices...we are the sum total of those choices..." What a simple truth that is, yes? I believe that it is possible for an intelligent person who is paying attention, and who sees hypocrisy, falsehoods, and side-steps to become cynical. I don't think that cynicism is a 'bad' character trait. To me, it's a realistic character trait. Lunch, soon? Like in the next couple weeks? Signed, a fan of your work, Emily
