Welcome to 2018!

I’m back from a lovely trip to Boston where I got to spend time with my uncles Jeff and Bill, and thought I should give you all an update!

We are four days into the new year, and I’m coming to believe that this is my year.  Due to an incredibly long winter break (about 6 weeks!), I currently epitomize the words ‘rest and relaxation’.  I feel so refreshed and ready to go back to school and finish out the second semester of my first year!

This is also one of the first years that I don’t have any concrete New Year’s resolutions, aside from the goal of reading 88 books this year.  Maybe that makes me a party pooper, but as someone who perpetually breaks every good resolution she makes, it seems to me like it wasn’t worth the effort.  I don’t want to spend my 2018 feeling bad about myself when February hits and I suddenly have no motivation to do anything.  Instead, I’m concentrating my energy on things that are more productive and accomplish the same effects: they help me to be the best me that I can be.

I’ve just started writing for the Odyssey which is an online publication.  I’m working with a fabulous group of writers and editors from Miami University to publish weekly articles (my first one comes out next week!).

In addition to writing for the Miami Quarterly at school, I’ve joined a French theatre group which is out of my comfort zone to say the least!  Though not a big actor, I love the theatre and love French, so thought I would try it out!  I’m not exactly sure what my role will be, or even if it will be on stage or off, but I’m looking forward to what this new group will bring!

2017 was a year of tremendous ups and downs and countless firsts as I became an ‘adult’ for the first time and moved off on my own.  I’ve learned so much about who I am as a person and can’t wait to get back to the place that fosters my growth and lets me learn about my passions in and out of class.
