The story behind my new book

I would like to share the story behind "My Name is Rebecca: A Novelette" with you. I'm taking questions about the book, why I wrote it, and why it is special to me.

Patricia I am not used to blogging, but my husband's sister was a psychologist and wrote a book about her life and what led her to her vocation. She was a dear, but her style of writing was more technical than yours. Yours is very personalized, and I would love to know why you wrote "My name is Rebecca: A Novelette" and why it is special to you. My interests are varied, but I particularly enjoy books by people who share their perspectives.

Phyllis Babrove Thank you for your lovely comment and compliment, Patricia. I started out writing the story as a tribute to my mother and her family. My grandparents came to the United States from Russia in the early 1900s. They met in Racine, Wisconsin and married in 1915. As I wrote the story, it really evolved into a tribute to all immigrants who came during that era, regardless of where they were from, what religion they were, or where they settled. Basically their stories were all the same. They were leaving their home countries for a reason, whether it was religious persecution, poverty or just wanting a better life in general. I included a few stories that were real as I had heard them as a child or experienced something myself, which was one of the situations. I don't want to give that away in case you haven't read the book. The only "real" people in the story are my parents, which I have stated in the beginning.
Thank you again for asking and for the kind words.
