Quench and Wendy - Six years in the making

Many friends have asked me how it is that all-of-a-sudden I wrote "Quench and Wendy in the Land of Shovan". The truth is, there is nothing sudden about it, I have been working on the book for over six years. Whilst not a complete secret (my nearest and dearest did know), I am of the opinion that there are two kinds of people in this world, those who talk and those who do; I decided to be one of those that do. Put another way, I realized that if I wanted to be a writer I needed to write. Not talk about writing, not write about writing, not blog about writing, not boast about writing; just write. If there is one bit of advice that I would give to aspiring writers is just that, write!
Having said that, I am pleased that with my first book published, the conversation can begin. And indeed it must, for that is the way for potential readers to meet Quench and Wendy and join the adventure.
I do promise that it will not take another six years until my next book.
"Quench and Wendy in the Land of Shovan" took me a long time because it was written and rewritten multiple times, as I developed my writing skills and fine-tuned the story. It was not only my debut novel, it was my apprenticeship in the art (or is it craft) of story telling. I am planning to publish my next book in about six months. But once again, I probably won't be telling you too much about it before time.
