I have read some great books this month, and I have chosen just three to talk about. They couldn’t be more different! The Devil in the Marshalsea is the first book in the Thomas Hawkins series by Antonia Hodgson. I had already read the third book – A Death at Fountains Abbey – but these books really can be read in any order. Thomas Hawkins is thrown into a debtors’ prison in the early 18th century, and it’s a place that is both terrifying and fascinating. Tom is faced with a choice – expose the truth of the murder of one of the debtors, or he may be the next to die.
