Ghost Story Writer

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by ghost stories. This most likely started with my mother, who used to tell stories about the pre-Civil War era house that she and her family lived in when she was young. Since those days, hearing her stories on camping trips, I’ve been fascinated with both old houses and the people who might have lived there.

My latest novel, The Music of the Deep is set on a fictional island in Washington, but it is inspired by the town of Port Gamble. This town boasts a cemetery on the hill, overlooking the water and the town, and has claims of being the most haunted town in Washington. I took a few of those loose threads and wove them into this story of Alexandra Turner, who is trying to rebuild her life after losing her mother and leaving her abusive husband.

She finds help in Copper Cove in the form of the Spinsters, a group of knitters and spinners, and in the study of the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale.

I hope you love this story as much as I do.
