Announcement!

Big news.

Big, BIG news.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I have been offered a three book deal by California Coldblood Books, an imprint of Rare Bird Books, for the Jack Harper Trilogy - a trilogy I have been working on for the past five years. To say that I am over the moon is an understatement.

Today, I signed the contract for that three book deal. I am SO happy to be part of the CCB family. So, so happy.

Probably pretty soon I will write an entire post about what all of this means to me, but for right now I am simply going to bask in the glow. And eat cake. And grab a drink.

Everyone should run through a field of flowers for me today. OR, toast from wherever you are.

To put it lightly, this is a dream come true.

Jimmy Yay! I am so happy for you! Congratulations on this achievement, you deserve it. I raise a virtual glass to you (because it's 6:36 in the morning and I'm getting ready to go to work, I'll raise a real glass later). I love this news!

Nicolas Stephenson I read your book Pivot last year and I absolutely loved it. I know there are some themes in it that aren't going to appeal to some readers and some might find the characters difficult to sympathise with and relate to, but I found it charming in its own dark and twisted way and I thoroughly enjoyed my journey through it. It's one of those "I wish I wrote this" moments. I believe that as you expand this universe, it's going to become more and more certain who this book is for and whose story it's trying to tell.
Just discovered your blog here and I am very excited to see you having an opportunity to go through with this trilogy and achieve your dreams.

Can't wait for the second book :D

Nicolas, what a wonderful post! Thank you so much for the kind words. I cherish them.

I rewrote the first book several years ago, and the second book is finished. Both I recently copyedited with the help from a wonderful copyeditor. They are on their way to publication! The new Pivot will be published this October.

I think you are right that the original book requires a very specific audience, but I am curious what you and others will think of the rewrite, which expands the world quite a bit, as well as changes it. The novels also move chronologically now. =)

More good news is that the audiobook rights recently sold to Brilliance Audio, associated with Amazon, so you will also be able to purchase the audiobook at some point, though what the specific release date is, I don't know. This has all been an amazing experience.

I intend to keep up with this blog, as well as the blog of my new author website, which will be up and running this month. I will be sure to post the link to my author website in a new blog post, as well as provide it in my profile.

Again, thank you so much for reaching out. Feel free to do so in the future. =)

Hi! I just finished the first book, Pivot, that was recently released. I was curious though, is there any way to get the original version of this? It seems from the reviews the story line is laid out differently and honestly I already just want to re read it. I loved it! It's on my favorites shelf already and I was just curious what the original was like...thanks!

Amanda, wow! You made my week! Thank you so much for your feedback! So, the original PIVOT was very, very different from the revised version (about 95%) different, and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if I even have the original file on this laptop (I wrote the original seven years ago). I know that there are some physical book copies out there (if you check book resale shops, you should be able to find it), but I would be too embarrassed to send it along, as it was not copyedited, not proofread, needed a lot of work, etc.

Awe I’m glad it made your week haha. I seriously loved it so much. Such a perfect read for me. But I will absolutely try to find a copy because I was intrigued by the reviews and quotes and how different it sounds. I understand not wanting to re-release it to anyone though, I hope I didn’t put you on the spot by asking. I just really enjoy the characters and the idea and I think it’s cool there’s a previous version, kind of like seeing the seed and what it grew in to. Anyways, thank you for taking the time to respond to me, I do appreciate it and I hope you won’t take it offensively if I do hunt it down haha. All the best! Looking forward to more(:
