The Book Star-Ratings

Star-ratings are like a teacher grading a topic, I thought to myself. One star would be like giving the writer 20%, and a 5-star is like giving them 100%.

To give a 5-Star is an encouragement to keep doing well. A 4-Star should be the worst someone ever gets, I thought.

If my star-rating for someone were to go down, I'd stop reading and mention something to them in private. Thus, my star-rating wouldn't go any lower.

Once I almost thought of giving a book 3-Star, that's just how it was. But then I imagined people saying, why did you even keep reading? So, I made it a habit to stop at four at the worst. That is like an 80%, which is not too good if you ask me.

Stars should be an embracement, not a scolding, I also thought. But then, some people might feel differently about this approach. It's like praising in public and criticizing in private. But then, this is not Corporate Management, someone might say.

Most likely, I thought, probably no one meant to criticize anyone, just an opinion they wanted to share. So, I thought I'd also share mine, wouldn't you agree?

Just a thought that I wanted to share. All the best to all, and thanks for reading.
