News Flash-The Good, The Bad

Finally!! I have some good news to share! I've been struggling and didn't want to be all negative. There is some argument as to whether negativity can be important/helpful too; so, I will give you a little good and a little bad and you can decide what you want to read.

Good News # 1: I finally submitted the manuscript for my second book to the publisher! YAY! It is one heck of a ride and 35% more content then the last book. The first few chapters are back story and the last few will leave your mind blown. Pretty proud of it and I sure hope everyone loves it. We're going to have a party at Subspace Comics in Lynnwood, WA once the book is out to celebrate.

Bad News # 1: Unfortunately, things fell through with Barnes & Noble in Lynnwood, WA because of their ordering policies. See, for a signing event, they require to buy a large quantity of books from Ingram that they can return if the signing event doesn't sell them all. But, my Cyborg Dreams: The Mind of Mine is non-returnable in Ingram. I tried to work out other deals with them and tried to get my publisher to change the setting but neither would budge on their policies. The bureaucracy just got in the way of my dreams with Barns & Noble. So sad. :(

Good News # 2: I have three, that's right THREE, signing events set-up for June. I am super excited about all of them because they are all so very different.
Half Price Books in Everett, WA on June 2nd from 2-4pm.  I'll have my own little table and be brining chocolates and some fun magnets for a STEM activity I can share with kids if you bring yours. As far as I know I am the only author for this event. If you are in Everett that Saturday, please come by so I won't get lonely!Brick & Mortar Books in Redmond, WA on June 14th from 6-8pm. I'll be joining about 20 other authors for a local authors appreciation night that will include some of the most interesting work you can imagine. Plus, there will be a trivia contest and we get to learn crazy things about the authors.ACE COMIC CON!!!! JUNE 22-24 at the WaMu Theater & CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA. I will be one of the artists at Artist Alley, with a booth all three days. My sister and husband will be there helping me out and we are coming up with cool little things to sell and give away with the book. AND, hopefully we will have Book 2 available for this event... publisher is still working on it.

Bad News #2: Okay, so this is just a rant section-beware. The books that the King County Library System has ordered still haven't come in and I still haven't scheduled any events with any of the libraries because I have been waiting. Urgh!! I haven't heard back from anyone at any of the media sites/newspapers that I have contacted to get a review of my book. All the people/places who are willing to do reviews want a bunch of money, which sucks. Finally, there are a few other book stores (like Amazon in BellSquare) that gave me hope but then dashed it to a million heart-wrenching pieces because they haven't responded after giving me their contact info. Like meeting a hot guy/girl at a nightclub and then they don't return your call.
So, this is the life of being a published author. Coordinating signing events, trying to get books into different venues, begging people for reviews and writing, writing, writing, lol. I'm nowhere near becoming a millionaire author yet, but I'm still having fun and enjoying the rollercoaster ride. I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events! Please comment and share your thoughts, good or bad.
