Note-worthy Events in the Wider World
There are some notable things happening in the world at the moment that I haven’t heard people talking much about. Such times always makes me wonder whether people are so self-absorbed in their bubbles that they don’t notice, or they are simply too busy struggling to survive. Some of both, no doubt.
I have my own bubble to contend with, of course, but I’m trying to at least keep one eye on the wider world. Let me just note a few items here of happenings that struck me as worthy of consideration. I’ll include links so you can pursue more info, if you wish.
Yet another “school shooting” has occurred in Santa Fe, Texas. Apparently, ten people died in the event. I used quotes not to diminish the tragedy, but to indicate that nothing is as presented in the main-stream media. As with the previous such events, it was associated with a “drill,” and the events described seem improbable (a kid planting explosives and shooting like a SWAT marksman, etc). The event seems geared towards ramping up the push to tighten gun control or a ban on guns for citizens. I’m not a gun enthusiast and there certainly should be regulations on owning weapons (not allowed for felons, etc), but this is not that. My point here is that you can’t trust what the MSM tells you about such incidents, and that such events can be (and I believe, are) engineered to serve political ends. Our lives have no value to our rulers. You can find the MSM write-up about the shooting, here .
Did you know that a volcano is erupting in Hawaii? Have you followed the news of fissures opening in the earth over the previous weeks, seeping lava? This finally led to a large explosion at the Halema'uma'u crater (part of the Kilauea caldera) on Thursday (5/17). The eruption is threatening Highway 11 on the Big Island and I believe it’s already destroyed property. I don’t think any people have been harmed so far, though people are being told to evacuate and many have had to be airlifted out of harm’s way. I don’t think this is a Mount St. Helen’s scale event, but it’s bad. You can find some good info on the eruption here .
I was much surprised when the US Senate voted this week to block the FCC’s repeal of Net Neutrality regulations. Unrestricted control of the Internet is an important part of the Deep State’s agenda, so I expected the NN regulations to be implemented with no opposition other than vocals from citizens. It seems that unrestricted access to the Internet, however, will prompt more people to action than being led to war or being continuously sprayed with toxins. A “letter-writing” campaign seems to have swayed the Senate, though the battle is not over, of course. The US House must also endorse blocking the FCC repeal. My bet is that the vote will be close, but that it will fail. See here .
And finally, Prince Harry (of England: Princess Diana’s son) got married on Saturday (5/19) to an American actress, Meghan Markle. I’m not an English Royalty watcher, but I found it an interesting event, though I’m not sure what to make of it. I did see the actual ceremony on TV. While less lavish than the wedding of a Crown Prince, it was beautifully done with good music, emotion, and even some rousing preaching. While Harry and Meghan seem genuinely in love, with Harry going against tradition and the presumed resistance from the royal family (because his bride is an American, non-aristocrat, and biracial), I’m always skeptical. The English royals have their own particular bubble and won’t allow its bursting (Diana was a gadfly to them, and was loved by the common folk, but not really successful in changing anything). I only hope that Harry has learned something from his years of privilege, seeing the royal machinations and maybe learning something about life and death in Afghanistan. Maybe the hype of Meghan Markle’s feminism will give way to some reality and she will find a way to proceed with the human touch Princess Diana started. You can find a more cynical but less hyped view of the wedding here .
