Congrats! Loved Desperation Road and (sheepishly) haven’t read The Fighter yet. Congrats though! Do you get to keep some creative control or are the adaptations going to be out of your hands?

I always worry that some film rights to amazing books get sold to someone who just sits on them and they never get made. (Example: Alec Baldwin owns the film rights to all of James Lee Burkes’ Dave Robicheaux books. Baldwin made a few but they didn’t do well at the box office and so almost 20 excellent would-be movies remain unmade.) (At least, that’s how I understand the situation.) I’m sure you know all about that sort of thing but I am stoked at the prospect of a film of Desperation Road. Fantastic book. You deserve every penny get from it.

i finally started The Fighter and I’m loving it! I’m a quarter of the way through and your prose is fantastic. I wish I could write like you but I’m glad you’re sharing your talents with the rest of us Keep it up.
