What's the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who—real or fictional—would you say the character reminds you of?
In its original form, the character of the hero, Orlando Novi, was meant to be a more ambitious version of me; he has my vulnerability, my insecurity, my ambivalence, my doggedness, and my lyrical sensibility, as well as my attraction to the dark side, to isolation and solipsism, and my tendency to overthink matters. From this template sprang another, more valiant form of myself; a form of self-flattery, perhaps, and a hope that I can still amount to something more than my meagre parts.

Hi, my name is Chris Grey. I've been awol from Goodreads for a long time, but hope to make up for it now. I have a new book I'd love to bring to the attention of anyone interested in historical fantasy fiction. It's called Hand of Silver, Hand of Gold, and it is set in the Italian Renaissance. A coming-of-age story with action and adventure, alchemy and art, murder and mystery, love and liberation.
Well, I'm here and open for interlocution! Say hello sometime.
best wishes
