Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Adam Lujan, and I am a self published, independent writer. This is the place where I want to peel back the curtain and really let you all get to know me and my personal interests. I think one thing that most writers miss the mark on with their blog is that it is supposed to be a way for your readers to get to know you on a different level than what your books or stories may reveal. I suspect that most writers don't want to write a blog and just do it because they are supposed to, which is understandable, but still pretty sad.
I think the way to get ahead in the world now a days, especially if you are doing some sort of promotion, is to interact with your followers and audience. With YouTube and social media doing so much for people being able to create a brand purely out of the blue, if fans aren't getting the attention they want, they can easily go somewhere else where they get what they are looking for. But at the same time, that doesn't mean that you should do something just for the sake of doing it. You should do something because you think it will benefit you, your audience, and maybe you will get something out of it. I've always wanted to start a blog. Even had a couple over the years that were begun and then forgotten. So making one to promote my writing seemed like a no brainer.
So what can you expect out of this? Well, I don't want to get too boring or too technical. Most writers that have "writing advice" blogs are usually more established than I am. I also secretly think that those blogs are only frequented by other authors, and "normal" people probably have no interest in what goes into writing a query letter. I could be wrong, but I think most people just want to get to know who they are reading. I know for a lot of authors that I follow, I don't even really care WHAT they write, I just want to read it.
Not wanting to limit myself is a pretty key thing about starting this for me. Making it too specific would probably burn me out on that particular subject. What I have concluded is that this will be whatever it needs to be for the time being.
I think the most fun thing about blogs is that they can be a number of different things. I have read blogs that were diaries, and I have read blogs that review products. I have read testimonials and also confessions. I think the one thing that excites me the most about this blog is that it won't just be something that I created, but something that was created for you. Here's to hoping that you stick around for the future posts.
