About the Cover
Since I'm an artist, as well as an author, I felt I must design and paint the cover of The Long Dark Cloak. If didn't produce my own cover, I thought my artist friends would be disappointed and heckle me in my negligence.
Zephyrus, the tree in my story, is fashioned after a famous oak tree in the New Forest of Southern England that is called the Queen. The tree's limbs are raised above as though reaching for heaven. While it is the biggest tree standing there, it comes a bit short of my vision of Zephyrus, a huge Kingwood oak. He is the Master and Peacekeeper of the forest. I wanted it to be painted in watercolor and to make the forest a bit ominous and foreboding. No one from the outside is welcome. And then Ivan arrives on horseback and the adventure begins.
