The Clockwork Crow
They say never judge a book by its cover, but when I saw the cover for The Clockwork Crow I just knew I had to have it! I managed to nab an advanced copy from the lovely Penny at Firefly Press and sat lovingly adoring the the cover.
But then I thought, what if the story didn’t live up to the beautifully stunning cover *gasps*
So I waited a little while, still appreciating the amazing design work and letting my mind wander over what the story could be about.
I can tell you now I was definitely not disappointed and the cover is a perfect fit to this beautifully told victorian story that follows orphan Seren on her brave adventure, to help her new home with her unusually quirky new companion Crow.
The family who must not be spoken of are coming, but who are they? and what have they done to the one of the occupants of Seren’s new home to cause so much upset? Curious Seren can’t help but investigate and trouble seems to lure her in from the moment you open the first page.
Each chapter is elegantly opened with a gorgeous rhyming couplet and the story written by Catherine Fisher leaves you wanting more, but feeling satisfied with the adventures that have unfolded, I could have quite easily read it for hours more and devoured it in one sitting.
I can’t wait for this little star and her magical story to be wound up and released into the world this October from Firefly Press a publisher based in Wales responsible for should authors as the amazing Jennifer Killick and Eloise Williams both with fantastic new stories out this year too.
So what are you waiting for? Pre-order your copy of this enchanting Christmas tale now, remember the journey is long and the road leads into darkness, so order this ray of light and escape into The Clockwork Crow before the family come for you too!
