My Thoughts:
Those of you who are familiar with Ms. Shen’s works, will know she is known for the way she guts you with angst, writes her deliciously, wonderful bad-boys, and her heroines who don’t need a hero. While Dirty Headlines still touches on everything that makes an L.J. Shen book shine, it is in a category of its own!
Lemme explain:
I usually try to stay away from happy books. That sounds terrible, but I am who I am. I love soul crushing, gut wrenching, I need a gallon of ice cream, books (so yes, I like to torture myself- sue me… not really. I’m poor). Dirty Headlines is not that kind of book.
I went in expecting some terrible thing to happen at any point. For our hero to turn out to be a terrible human who happens to have a soft spot for our leading lady. But I was mistaken in such an amazing way.
It was happy.
And was I mad about it?
No.
Why?
Because it made ME happy.
Those two lovebirds were everything and more. Celian was just the perfect amount of “bad-boy” and Jude was the perfectly imperfect heroine that complimented his character.
They were partners.
They were passionate.
They were everything.
You couldn’t help but to fall in love with them. In fact, it was even more than the usual book swooning that captured my heart. It was the fact that I would do anything for these guys to be real so I could be their real life bff third wheel. I would TOTALLY third wheel these lovers.
Like always L.J. Shen wrote a masterpiece. She gave us everything we needed and more.
So if you are usually hesitant about her books due to angst and such (for you weirdos who like fluff. Jk jk, I’m the weirdo. I’ll admit that), this book is one you can dive into and not regret.
So I’m not sure why you’re still reading these words written by little ol’ me when you could be reading your next favorite book. GO! See for yourself. Laugh, smile, and fall in love with another five star book by L.J. Shen.
