I just got done reading Pet Semetary by Stephen King a couple days ago. Holy cow, guys. It's definitely my new favorite Stephen King book, and probably top 5 favorite books of all time.
In the intro, King talks about the book being based on true events, but with a worst-case-scenario twist.
A lot of people have asked me where the idea for 2,300 Steps came from, and that's exactly how I explain it—real life events with a worst-case-scenario twist.
I really did get my wife an Apple Watch for Christmas and she really did have some unexplained steps in the middle of the night. She had a history of sleepwalking as a kid, so we thought it was kinda funny and kinda creepy.
The premise was simple enough—it just developed on its own from there.
While I was writing the story, I realized that my wife had stopped wearing her Apple Watch at night after that first night... so maybe 2,300 Steps is truer than we thought.......................
