November update
I just can't believe it's November already! We've been living in Maine for five months now while our new home is being built. We should be in by next month, if all goes well.
I posted last month that I had removed my novel, Zero Point from Lulu print as a result of the rules of the Clive Cussler Collectors Society Adventure Writers Competition. My entry was accepted and I, along with twenty-five others, will be judged by a panel of authors and society members. They have a voting section on their Facebook page for people to vote on their favorite.
I found it a little disturbing that the site stated the votes would count as part of the judging. Some people have hundreds of friends on Facebook. Some, like me, have very few, and there may be a few who don't have a Facebook account. I decided I wasn't going to go crazy pandering for votes on what would essentially be a popularity contest and let my work speak for itself.
One friend of mine questioned this on their Facebook page and was told the judging of the manuscripts would out-weigh the voting process, which it should be.
My conclusion is, they wanted to generate some interest in the Society by way of people liking the Facebook page in order to vote. I feel better about that.
If I manage to wind up in the top five finalists,(I Hope), I most likely will attend the ceremony where the winner would be announced. Sadly, we won't know that most likely until the first of the year.
I will try to keep up to date with this blog. It will be much easier after we move in.
