9/29/18 - Interesting Common Themes

Welcome to the WymerNovels blog. Today, I will be discussing some interesting common themes incorporated into my novels.

Of course my space opera novels are always on a galactic scale, but what follows is more on the granular level. If you've read any of my titles, you may have noticed some common themes that occur in the stories. For a drinking establishment that we would call a bar, I always use the term intoxication joint. I started that term to be different and it is very fitting.

There is always a character in my books that is my name backwards, but with letters added at the end of the name to differentiate the characters from the different stories. In Lightyears Trilogy, it is Remyw Yortis, with the “is” at the end of the backwards name. He is a vital character and is introduced in book two, Lightyears II: Intragalactic Terrorism. In Treasures From Afar, it is Remyw Yort, with no additional letters at the end of the backwards name. He is the legendary poet whose poems are included in the little book in which the main character, Shane Aslat, reads from in chapter 8. What's even more interesting is that some of these poems were used by me to later write some of my songs in my former band Pummeled About The Face. And as a spoiler for the novel I am currently writing, there will be a character named Remywian Yort, with the “ian” at the end of the first backwards name. He is a bartender at an intoxication joint where the main character stops in for a bite to eat and witnesses a disturbing, yet morbidly satisfying scene. There will be more revealed regarding my forthcoming novel in the weeks to come.

There are always lots of white pine trees in my stories and a wolf or two. I like to use them because it reminds me of the North, which I love. I tend to have my laser beam color as blue, but not in every scenario. In chapter 22 of Lightyears Trilogy, Roedie presented a new particle beam laser rifle that he created, which had a lavender beam. There will always be appendices in the back of my books for terminology and locating what chapter the terms first appear in and other information that is interesting, like family trees, galactic leaders, and in the forthcoming book, the discography for the band in the story.

I have incorporated dreams that I've had into each of my stories as well. In Lightyears Trilogy, it is my dream of the old, broken wooden bridge at Verction’s Canyon on the planet Yibon. In Treasures From Afar, it is my dream of the old mansion and graveyard in the forest on Myrath. In my forthcoming erotic novel, it is a sex mall on the gaming planet.
