1. Ciudad Mitad del Mundo
The Ciudad Mitad del Mundo is the 30 meter high monument showing the line of the equator.
There are also museums there.

2. Cotopaxi
Cotopaxi is the 2nd highest summit in Ecuador and an active volcano. In the Andes Mountains, it is almost 6,000 meters tall.
The last time Cotopaxi erupted was in August 2015 and the even lasted over 4 months.
As of October 2017, people can climb it again.

3. Baltra Island
Baltra is a small arid island near the center of the Galápagos.
During WW2 it was a US Air Force base, now it is an Ecuadorian one.

4. Quilotoa
This volcano crater lake is 3km wide and 250 meters deep. It’s green color is from dissolved minerals.
You can take a 4 hour hike around the lake, stay there overnight, and enjoy the hot-springs.

5. Galápagos National Park
The Galápagos National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Ecuador’s oldest national park.
This 3000+ square mile park protects the diversity of the Galápagos islands.
It is home to many native species including the giant tortoise and marine iguana.

6. Chimborazo
Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador and about 20km wide at its base.
Surrounding Chimborazo are mountains, jungle, desert, and more.

7. Bartolomé Island
Bartolomé Island is one of the younger islands in the Galápagos archipelago and is actually a volcanic islet.
It’s landscape, although small (1/2 a square mile), is breathtaking.
The biggest attraction of Bartolomé Island is Pinnacle Rock. Here you can snorkel and visit the underwater world. Wildlife to spot include penguins, green turtles, herons, and more.
On the island are a variety of colored formations.
You can also climb the volcano for a great view of the surrounding islands.

8. El Cajas National Park
El Cajas National Park is famous for is hiking. You can walk through the cloud forests and visit the many lakes. If you’re lucky, you can spot giant hummingbirds, condors, coatis, and more.

9. Basílica del Voto Nacional
This is the largest neo-Gothic basilica church in the Americas.
You can find this Roman Catholic church in the historic center of Quito.

10. Darwin Island
Darwin Island is only one square kilometre in land mass. Its attractions are not on the island, but the incredible amount of marine life that surrounds it.
The island, like many in the Galápagos, is actually an extinct volcano.
