Motives. Oct. 22
I am guilty.
I look at my daily Amazon book sales. I get caught up in the number of books I've sold. I become consumed with pouring over my royalty checks to see which state or country bought which book and where I am placed on my author rank.
And it can get to me. And if there's a season where sales are low and down…I can get emotionally low and down.
And Travis would just tell me time and time again: Don't get caught up in all of that. Just do what you love. Whether you have an audience or not. Whether you have a fan of readers or not. Just write.
There's a quote in the movie, Jerry Maguire, that just sums it up for me:
Jerry Maguire: "All right. I'll tell you why you don't have your ten million dollars yet. Right now, you are a paycheck player. You play with your head, not your heart. In your personal life, heart. But when you get on the field, it's all about what you didn't get, who's to blame, who under threw the pass, who's got the contract you don't, who's not giving you your love. You know what? That is not what inspires people. That is *not* what inspires people. Just shut up and play the game. Play it from your heart."
I was listening to a Creflo Dollar sermon and he was saying to love God first and just do what you love for Him. If no one likes it, then just shrug and say: That's okay. Because I love God anyway and I love Him first and no matter how I feel right now, nothing is going to change that.
Whatever it is that you are getting in your head about…you're holding yourself back. Don't do it for the applause of man.
Do it for God.
Do it for you.
You'll reach a level of success by doing what you love. Period.
If you need prayer for anything , let me know. I would love to pray for you!
