Hello Queen
Hello Queen
I Am With You
By: Reverend Tonya Parker
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
I remember it like it just happened. I came home one day from work and divorce papers were on the dining room table. I didn’t think much of it at first. It’s nothing for my husband and me to play a little prank on each other every now and then. It was one of our things. Perhaps my husband went too far with his prank this time. I don’t find divorce funny at all; I take marriage seriously.
Much to my surprise, and dismay, it was not a prank. It only took a matter of minutes and a phone call to a disconnected number to realize, my whole life as I knew it was changing. We’ll talk about this. He just needs some time. He’s going through something that he is not ready to share with me; he thinks I will not understand or I won’t be able to forgive. We’ll talk about it.
These were the thoughts running through my mind. Of course we would have to talk about it. We will do so when he comes to get his clothes; he will need his clothes if we are truly getting a divorce. I went to his closet to see how much he will have to pack while we discussed things. I will convince him to change his mind and he will stay. Of course he would. This is one of “those times” that you tell your grandchildren about how your grandfather and I almost got divorced.
The closet was empty....
