Why I wrote this story…

When an author writes a full-length novel, it cannot be merely on a whim. Where will those 60K words come from, after all?

To me, the inspiration came from various quarters.

Firstly, the patriotic EDGE-OF-THE-SEAT THRILLER has always been the kind of genre I devour when it comes to watching movies. I am an ardent fan of plot-driven Bollywood flicks like Wednesday, Special 26, Holiday, 16 December, Kahaani, Airlift and such!
With this story I tried my best to re-create that feeling where one’s chest swells with pride, the heart hammers with suspense and the brain is totally blown away by the intricacy of the plot!

Another reason this story is close to my heart is because it tells a tale not from the viewpoint of the terrorist but in fact from the point of view of the VICTIMS of terror.
WHY TERROR YOU ASK?
Our hospital received grants for a special wing built in the memory of a young couple — both victims in the Mumbai shootouts.
The news channels then were full of features on Kasab — his upbringing, his views, his detainment and his mindset. Many a discussion and debate were dedicated to these.
That’s when I often wondered about the Victims…
The relatives of those who had lost their loved ones must feel helpless! BUT WHAT IF THE VICTIMS HAD SURVIVED? WOULD THEY FEEL HELPLESS OR WOULD THEY FEEL ANGRY? What would happen if they got a chance to break even? Especially, if they had the faculties of their brain intact, TO WHAT LENGTHS WOULD THEY GO to have the terrorists caught? Would they then think about their own safety? Or would they plunge head on into the mission?

The third reason as to why this book is special to me is because the protagonist is a WOMAN. Society tries to render Parvathi helpless at every turn, but she is a fighter.
This is a story of a woman triumphing fear, of bracing herself against odds, of putting on a brave face when everything seems to be going against her!
