My main interest involves the ways in which the immune system is affected by the environment, and how changes to immune function lead to disease.
While avoiding toxins such as the glycophosphates in grains, and chemicals in aspartame help heal the immune system, nutrient supplements are also an important part of any healing program. Many diseases, such as cataracts, are directly caused by low levels of the body's major antioxidant glutathione. While glutathione supplements are poorly absorbed, supplements containing N-acetyl-cysteine cause a dramatic increase in glutathione levels.
My new book, which will be out this fall, is on the infectious diseases that lead to Alzheimer's disease and the ways to prevent disease development.
