Hey, Goodreads readers!
It's been a while since I've posted here, but I just wanted to address an issue that I've been seeing a LOT of lately, including with my most recent release. There is a HUGE difference between the YA (Young Adult) and the NA (New Adult) sub-genre, so I thought I'd take a moment to clarify.
-> YA is suitable for young readers. Books like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson fall into this category.
-> NA contains adult content, including sexual situations. Books like Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire or my book, Cadence Untouched, fall into this category. NA fiction books have characters in the 18–30 age bracket, and tends to focus on issues such as leaving home, developing sexuality, and negotiating education and career choices.
Be careful when you "shelve" a book on Goodreads. When you see a "New Adult Romance" book, it almost always contains sex. If you shelve it as Young Adult, it could very well fall into the hands of a young reader by mistake.
