Why I could never write a regular blog!

Like the diaries of my youth, blogs present something of a challenge for me - forgetting to write it!
I like the theory of them - writing on a regular basis is always a good thing, and sharing your experience of something that others may find vaguely interesting has its own appeal - but in practice how do people manage to maintain them? I dont have an especially busy schedule; I work full time, I spend time with my wife and our friends, and I write (mostly at the weekends). And yet I struggle to either fit in the time to write a blog post, or more often than not, I completely forget to do it at all.
And ultimately, blogs fall into the larger field of social media as a whole, and obey the same rules. Regular, interesting, insightful content is fundemental to attract an audience. I've had to really concentrate to update my author Facebook feed to try and grow the 'likes' - which all the manuals tell you is the way to grow book sales.
That said, I'm self aware enough to recognise my own limitations - thing slip my memory and the inclination to blog will only take me every so often.
So maybe I'll carry on as I am, spinnning out the occasional meta inspired blog post about the difficulties of writing blog posts.
Happy writing all!
